Although Awaz Sayeed was renowned for his satirical modern short stories and humorous Khake (pen-portraits or character sketches), little do people know that he began his literary career by writing Nasri Nazms (prose poetry). He has composed several Nasri Nazms, which have been published in several leading literary journals of India, including those from Hyderabad. His first Nazm titled ‘Gudiya‘ was published in 1961. All these Nazms have now been included in the ‘Kulliyat-e-Awaz Sayeed‘, an anthology on Awaz Sayeed that was published in 2019.
